Friends, family honor legacy of Rep. Quentin "Q" Williams at Middletown funeral

Friends and family shared their sorrow Saturday morning at Representative Quentin "Q" Williams private funeral in Middletown.Williams was the first African American to represent the city of Middletown in the Connecticut general assembly.

For his friend Crystal Revelle it's a bond she can never forget.

"He was just amazing his smile could light up a room if you were having a down day and I would call him and be like I just don't know and he would talk me through the situation," Revelle said.

Revelle has known Quentin "Q" Williams since middle school.

The 39-year-old Democrat had served Middletown residents in the 100th District.

He was on his way home from the inaugural ball in Hartford on January 5th when he tragically died in a crash involving a wrong way driver on Rt. 9 South in Cromwell.But for Revelle it's been an emotional start to the new year."Help the people that can't help themselves stand up for them and really just try to make a difference that is what he wanted that is what he was doing," she added. His loved ones sharing their sentiments as they try to overcome this grief."Quentin often cited his mother Queen as his inspiration when he first won the election as a State Representative, he thanked Queen in his victory speech saying she has sacrificed more for me than anyone should ever have to do."

Revelle wants everyone to take inspiration from her lifelong friend whom she says changed many lives.

"Just remember him as the light carry on his legacy see what you can for your fellow neighbor and be kind, love one another that's really what he did," she said.
